This unusually striped jasper bead gives a wood like effect and frames a large brushed sterling silver coin bead to create this pendant necklace, which hangs from a sterling silver snake chain. Available on a 41cm (16") or 46cm (18") chain.

Jasper is an opaque variety of quartz and is usually red, yellow or brown in colour. It contains up to 20% foreign material which can give the stone a multicoloured, striped, or spotted appearance. It has a smooth surface, can be highly polished and owes its red colour to iron inclusions.

It was highly valued in ancient times, not only for its beauty, but also for the reputed magical and medicinal properties. Red jasper is said to be an intensely protective stone, stabilising the aura and bringing contentment.
