Attractive white, bronze and hematite coloured cultured pearls are strung on silver wire with sterling silver beads and fastened with a spring ring. (Necklace approx 49cm long).

A pearl is a hard, roundish object produced within the soft tissue of a living shelled mollusk.
For centuries pearls fetched extraordinary prices, as naturally occurring fine gem-quality saltwater and freshwater pearls are rare. Many hundreds of pearl oysters or pearl mussels had to be gathered and opened, and thus killed, in order to find even one pearl. In modern times however, almost all the pearls for sale are cultured and formed with a good deal of expert intervention from human pearl farmers.
