Aquamarine which comes from the latin aqua marin?, "water of the sea" and is a gemstone-quality transparent variety of beryl, having a delicate blue or turquoise colour, and is closely related to the gem emerald.
It is said to evoke feelings such as sympathy, trust, harmony or friendship and according to ancient traditions, carrying an aquamarine stone is supposed to guarantee a happy marriage and to make its owner happy and rich. Legend has its origin in the treasure chest of mermaids, and has for ages been reputed to be a lucky stone for sailors.
